Throughout this volume, you’ll be guided step-by-step through various scenes and objects, honing your skills with a variety of techniques and materials. From complex indoor still lifes to natural landscapes and historical architecture, this course will prepare you to tackle any artistic challenge.

We’ll work with high-quality materials, including graphite, pastels, Pierre Noire, and luxurious paper, allowing you to create expressive, textured drawings. The course culminates in two exciting final projects: the representation of the stunning Valparadis Castle in Barcelona, both its interior and exterior, where you’ll apply all you’ve learned at every step.

1. Indoor Still Lifes: We’ll start by exploring how to draw still lifes in interior spaces, focusing on lighting, the texture of fruits, reflections on metallic objects, and the delicate portrayal of fabric and glass. You’ll learn how light interacts with different surfaces and how to capture those interactions in your drawings.
2. Outdoor Still Lifes: Next, we’ll move our skills outdoors, creating a still life set in a natural landscape. Here, you’ll learn to represent the contrast between foreground objects and background scenery, mastering elements like grass texture and the shifting effects of natural light throughout the day.
3. Tree and Natural Texture Representation: We will then dive into representing natural elements, like trees, where you’ll refine your ability to depict organic textures and small details, such as leaves, bark, and branches. This will prepare you for more complex projects that require precision in drawing natural forms.

4. Rendering Historical Architecture: Finally, we’ll apply everything you’ve learned in two final projects. First, we’ll tackle an interior scene from Valparadis Castle, a majestic 14th-century castle in Barcelona. You’ll focus on rendering cobblestones, wooden ceilings, and the way light filters through grand windows. Then, we’ll move on to the impressive exterior façade of the castle, drawing its unique architectural features, including weeping willows that frame the castle, and capturing the angular perspective of its imposing entrance. These projects will challenge you to master light, texture, and perspective to create a final masterpiece.
