Polygon Modeling Boot Camp
Polygon Modeling Boot Camp Volume 1 – 3 :
Vol. 1: Dungeon
Grab your mouse and gear up to model! Build this fantasy dungeon while leveling up your modeling skills using mainly hotkeys to sharpen your polygon modeling techniques.
Start with building these medieval style dungeon keys. You will build a template key with topology that can be utilized over and over to build a variety of keys within the same style.
Continue to level up your skills by building these wooden barrels. You will be challenged with several topology techniques to build out believable, functional props while simultaneously learning to cut a few corners.
Build this dungeon cage using the array and curve modifiers. You’ll focus on crafting functional, convincing structure and building elements of storytelling.
Utilize displacements and shader techniques to build out the toxic puddle at the center of our dungeon. Then, you’ll assemble the assets and prep the scene for presentation!
Vol. 2: Dragon Axe
Learn how to create detailed assets while you build this epic fantasy dragon axe. You’ll get familiar with the process of using both broad strokes plus fine high poly details and baking them into normal maps.
Start by building out the blade of the axe with broad strokes, working towards creating the fine details of the blade with complex edges and bevels.
Create an organic-looking wooden handle with wrapped straps and a grip while continuing to build naturalistic variations within the macro and micro details of the asset. You’ll use a variety of techniques to achieve an organic feel to the handle.
Creating normal maps is an essential part of creating poly detail when the mesh goes against the grain of your topology. Learn this process through creating these mythic dragon engravings for your axe.
Vol. 3: Shadow Helm
Take your modeling skills to an entirely new level as you build this dark fantasy helm. Learn intermediate topology techniques and focus on controlling edge flow while crafting complex forms with these precision methods.
Learn to control your topology by getting to know these crucial techniques. Learn to control your face loops by upresing, downresing, and utilizing kites to re-route. Get to know holding edges in detail to polish your geometry.
Finish off the base mesh of the helm by building on top of the techniques in Part 1. You’ll connect all of the parts of the mesh with evenly-distributed polygon density and edge flow.
To finalize the helm, we will focus on holding edges. Put your knowledge to the test by re-routing topology and creating solid face loops that will enable you to control how you subdivide your mesh. Finalize the asset by unwrapping, shading, and lighting with atmosphere.
